Biography

Playing to sell-out audiences at folk festivals and boutique music venues alike, Taliska are a force to be reckoned with! Taliska captivates audiences with the much loved music of Scotland weaving musical magic through soaring songs and airs, and then enthusiastically roars to life with sprightly, foot-tapping jigs and reels!

Following their 2011 début album release ‘Celtic Café’, the 2013 follow-up album ‘Home…where the music is’ has received equal popular and critical acclaim: “The whole CD is an engaging, interesting listen. It offers the opportunity to relax and let the sound flow over your consciousness…” (Therese Virtue, Boite World Music Café).

The line-up includes the stunning fiddle playing of Angus Downing, the refined playing of Geoff Jones on pipes, whistles and bodhrán, and the stirringly beautiful vocals of Claire Patti, accompanied by her mellifluous harp, French horn & piano accordion playing, and the melodiously mellow sound of the cello from Louise Godwin. Driving this Scottish musical vessel on guitar is Marcus de Rijk whose vocals, both solo and combined in harmony with Claire, rounds out the band’s understated but undeniable depth of musicianship. “Their instrumental brilliance, as well as the gorgeous Celtic vocals, really transported our audience to another time and place…” (Tracy Moore, Wyreena Community Arts Centre). Taliska truly are a class-act you would not want to miss!
